reserch and planning: test shots with SLR camera

Inside shots:

The lighting in this photo is really good considering I took it inside. I used the SLR camera to take a medium close up of Kristian. I want this kind of lighting in my content page because it looks natural and also because there will be less active in the picture. The lighting is really clear and brings out the colours really well. This picture is better than my college magazine photos because they are in really good quality, and it grasps every detail in the picture not just the Kristian. This maybe because I used the focus lens on the front of the SLR camera and messed around with it because a couple of other photos I took before went really blur and you couldn't see the Kristian. I also put a flash on the SLR to get more detail in the photo. I put the camera setting on the 'person catcher' were it picked up the person and blur the background out a little bit.

This picture of Karishma is really in focus, the only problem is that the lighting is really poor quality and it’s got a tint of orange to it as well which I don't really like. This was because I didn't put the flash on the SLR camera because I wanted to try out different lighting for my magazine. I don't think I will use this mode of effect on the SLR camera because of the quality and the background around it. I don't think this photo is better than my college photos I took because the college photos were better quality of lighting, but I do like the focus in this picture and the contrast, just the brightness is too orange, and I want more contrast because am doing a Indie rock music magazine I want the colours to be vivid and bright, but also a couple of dark photos and this photo doesn't go in any of them categories that I want for my magazine.

Outside shots:

I like this medium close up of Katrina and Saul because they are outside and the colours are really well present as for a college magazine. I think if I could have focused it in more then this would be the perfect lighting for my music magazine. This photo is a better photo than what I took in my college magazine because of how the SLR camera has picked up on the colours. Also the picture looks really natural and that is also something that I want for my music magazine photo.

This is my favourite picture of them all. I like the medium close up of what I took of Vivien because the focus of the camera is perfect, which I had to adjust to get it right. Also the lighting is really good as well and it looks really natural even though she is looking at the camera. I want to use a shot like this for my music magazine because hopefully the camera will pick up the colours and make the contrast like this when I come to take pictures for my magazine.

 Overall:
This was the first time I have properly used the SLR cameras and messed about with the settings and used the focus turn on the front of the camera lens, which was really interesting to use. I probable won’t use the flash when I do my music magazine photo because I want the colours to be dark and on the interview photo be more vivid because they are the type of colours you normally see for a music magazine. I also messed about with the different function on the SLR camera and making the person in the photo more focused and making the background blur. The photos I have taken on the SLR camera are better than the ones I took on the normal camera, they have better focus and more detail into them.
